Publishing is both technical and strategic.
Professionals hire editors and cover designers, but they can and often do handle the publishing process themselves. We can help you, but if you’d rather spend time than money, this is the place for doing it yourself—as long as you know what you’re doing. If you don’t, then let’s talk.
Publishing at All Online Retailers. With less than a single day’s work, you can publish your book and make it available at all online retailers, including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple iBooks, Kobo, local libraries, and more. Honestly, this is the easiest part of independent publishing. You don’t need to take a class to learn how to do it, nor do you need to read a how-to book; but we can do it for you if you’re busy or don’t feel like it.
Book Description (Blurb). Easily 95 percent of self-publishers screw up their book descriptions even if they’re brilliant writers. The skill set is entirely different. A blurb is advertising and marketing copy, and this kind of writing is alien and radically counterintuitive to most creative people.
Writing a blurb is far more labor-intensive per word than writing the book itself, partly because getting it exactly right is just as important as getting the first page exactly right. You can write a literary masterpiece and have the best cover anyone has ever seen, but if your blurb fizzles, you’re sunk.
But don’t worry—we’ve cracked the code. We can share resources with you that will teach you how to do this correctly, or we can write a blurb for you.
Metadata (Categories and Keywords). Almost everybody screws this up too, and their books are harder for readers to find. It’s not that hard to do it correctly, but you first need to understand how the Amazon store and the Amazon algorithm help readers find what they’re looking for and display books to readers who are likely to buy them. We can share resources with you that will teach you how to do this correctly, or we can develop this for you.
Amazon A+ Content. Amazon’s A+ content appears in the “From the Publisher” section on your book’s product page. You can add videos, eye-catching imagery, customized text, and whatever else you can imagine. Most authors and publishers neglect A+ content even though it can increase sales by as much as 20 percent. We can help imagine, design, and publish this for you so your books will stand out from the competition. You will need some professional graphic design skills if you want to do this yourself.
